The following links are extremely helpful. If you are researching any violinist or violin maker, there is hardly any need to look further than these four. These sites will further link you to whatever or whomever else you may be looking for. Be prepared to spend large amounts of time reading and (perhaps) enjoying these sites. The data is simply immense.

1. Stewart Pollens is considered one of the top experts on the history, science, and art of violin making in the world in addition to being a luthier himself. He works in New York.

2. William Bartruff and his brother Matthew have assembled on their site, the most remarkable and comprehensive (in addition to useful) list of violin makers out of all the sites that I have visited - simply unequalled.

3. Leif Luscombe (out of Canada) has a wonderful site which describes many things related to violin making in great detail. He also has links to other phenomenal and interesting sites related to the art.

4. Barry Dudley constructs five string violins very successfully. He is also very generous in sharing his knowledge with the uninitiated.

5. The following is my own blog - you will here find mini biographies and photos of well-known as well as obscure violinists. If you think I've left someone out, please let me know on the blog itself.
